    Pro Admin Problem with Mac and the forum - please help!!

    Post by Kimmy December 1st 2014, 2:06 am

    I asked this back in July and received no replies. It is still happening to everyone who uses a Mac. Does anyone have a suggestion?? Thank you!!!!

    When I post a message and the page reloads itself, it always took me back to my message. Now it has been going to the top of the page instead. I noticed it also happened on another Forumotion forum I am a member of. But now I have realized it only happens on my iMac, and not on my PC. Please, does anyone have any idea how to fix this, it is driving me crazy!

    hello Kimmy

    This is normal:

    1- You write a message
    Problem with Mac and the forum - please help!! 01-12-10

    2- Then you got this message:
    Problem with Mac and the forum - please help!! 01-12-11
    ==> If you don't click on a link you will be back on your message...

    Maybe you are not talking about it. In that case, thanks for clariflying Wink

    Thanks :rose: :rose:

    If I don't click on a link, it is not taking me back to my message, it is taking me to the first message on the same page. It did not used to be that way. It used to take me to my message. On my PC, it still does, but on my Mac, and everyone else who uses a Mac, it doesn't do that. It is driving me batty!!

    Hello Kimmy,

    After posting, does the URL of the thread contain an ID ? e.g. https://help.forumotion.com/t137144-problem-with-mac-and-the-forum-please-help#926081
    #926081

    Also, could you provide the link to your forum ?

    Thanks

    ^^ It could be Safari, I was reading up that some people had problems with anchor tags. However, most of them were related to the name attribute .. I know Forumotion is up to snuff, because the post number is set as an ID.

    Thanks for testing

    @APE
    Thank you!

    Well, actually with Safari + OS X to return message looks like this: teamjem.forumotion.com/t855-testing-thread

    Where the correct would be like this: teamjem.forumotion.com/t855-testing-thread#217927

    But this is easily solved with PHP, in any case, if you wish a temporary solution until the technicians solve this, we can solve this only with JavaScript.

    @Kimmy

    While the technicians of Forumotion does not resolve this issue, you can use the code below which I did and it works perfectly:

    Create a new JavaScript with:
    Title * : What you want
    Placement : In all the pages
    Javascript Code * : Copy the code below and paste in this field

    New code at this link: https://help.forumotion.com/t137144p30-problem-with-mac-and-the-forum-please-help#926852

    Then click Submit button!

    I am a bit illiterate with this type of stuff. I was not the administrator who originally set up the board.
    1. Where do I paste that exactly?
    2. Will this help everyone with a Mac who is having problems?

    THANK YOU!

    So I am sorry but the code can only be added by an administrator!

    It didn't fix the problem, but now the quick reply box has shrunk down to about 1/2 inch.  Sad

    This is STRANGE. In some of the threads, the quick reply box shrunk, and th Java Script didn't help. BUT….in some of the threads, the quick reply box is normal, and the Java Script worked in those threads!

    I need to have access (to know) what is the topic that this happens with quick reply!

    However, worth pointing out that my code is not to interfere in the size of the quick response!

    And any other ideas about the original issue, the Mac, as that still is not resolved? Just an FYI, I am a member on a different Forumotion board, and everyone there is having the same problems with Mac computers, as far as not being taken to your message after submitting it.

    Hello!
    I found the problem of quick reply shorten!!! It was my fault that I did not foresee the pagination of the topics in the regex...

    Change the code for this current: https://help.forumotion.com/t137144p30-problem-with-mac-and-the-forum-please-help#926852

    Take a test ok?

    @Buttercup
    Yes, but while they do not solve my code works perfectly !!! I've tested it on my forum that presents the same problem on Mac OS X with Safari.

    So long,

    I had to post on the link you provided me, just so I saw what was missing in my code!

    Yes, I see this! But it's only happening on topics with more than one page, but has as its get around this if you allow me to do some more tests ...

    I realized that there is a problem beyond #post_ID: Is the pagination!
    If I could solve the #post_ID the problem, I think I can also solve the pagination of the topic!
