    In progress Is it possible to change rules of registration?

    Post by darmowybonus Mon 29 Dec - 3:37

    I do not mean general conditions change because they know how to change.

    I have a forum in the Polish version www.darmowybonus.com and I have a problem.
    Button to register the account, it looks like this:

    Is it possible to change rules of registration? Bezcot10

    button is written: "Zgadzam Się na te warunki i mam powyżej 13 lat"

    This means that: I am over 13 years old and agree to these terms

    My forum content is not scary but certainly not for those under 18 years of age.

    Do your technicians can change and write like English version forumotion "I Agree to These terms"
    Polish version of it would have to be "Zgadzam się na te warunki"

    Best regards and wish you all best in New Year!

    create a new javascript under
    acp>modules>javascript managment

    set to all pages

    Code:
    $(function(){
    $('a[href="/register?agreed=true&step=2"]').text('Zgadzam się na te warunki');
    });

    If you have it set where you have to be a certain age to register, then that message will appear

    Also I do not believe you can edit that without breaking the Terms of Service.

    @SLGray
    Do you mean the GLOBAL Terms of Service that is forumotion wide? Because if why can we not change this button to fit what age group we want to join our forum, we run it... moderate it and make the rules, why can we not change the button to reflect how we want to run OUR forum?

    I wish everyone the best of luck and a Happy New Year!

    ForuMotion asks all users to respect their terms of service, just like any and all services out there.

    The best thing to do would just be to add additional rules.

    I think your Find that you can change the button and not break the TOS rules its only a button
    the only part you can not change or remove is the text that is already inplace on the rules its self but you can add to it Wink

    Speaking of which Ape, is quite annoying to me... I understand the global rules and why they put it there, but couldn't they just attach a link somewhere on the forum or let us add a second page? Our members do not really need to know the global rules, as we administrators will most likely make our forum Terms of use under the guidelines set globally by Forumotion. I have to add a link to my forum rules, it just seems weird is all. I could be completely off though.

    That is good thing too that we can change the button!

    Happy New Years everyone

    APE is just trying to help, no need to offend him.

    Forumotion is a free service, and if you are to use their free service, you must abide by their rules. (Simple.) Now, you can add additional rules to that page, which I think is perfectly fine since they will be reading (or should read) the rules page upon registration. Anywho, you can just make a topic about the global forum rules, it's sort of the same thing.

    I think you mis-understood me... I was not blaming ape or any of the volunteers for this Ramdaman it is beyond thier control... I just simply saying that it does not look right to our members that post a link to rules after they just read "the rules" I understand all this as forumotion forum founder and long time member on here, I just pointing out that members will not know or understand this, they are outsiders and familar with forumotion. To them the founder is the highest ranking person who can do anything, add anything, fix anything, remove anything etc. How am I supposed to explain if they ask that I have no control over that feature. It just reflects bad on the admins and founders, and it is not an issue or problem for me that they do this. I just wanted to know why.
    Happy New Year

    You can let them know that the forum software does not permit such an action to take place. Also, is this settled now that you have received your answer?

    And Twisted is right, the way you wrote it made it seem like you told Ape he was annoying.

    Hi,

    No you are NOT allowed to modify the default rules displayed, and that is a violation of the ToS Agreement, however, adding your own rules is absolutely permitted.

    To add your own rules:
    Acp >> Display > Templates / General > Agreement.
    Locate: {MY_RULES}
    Add a line, and add in your additional rules.

    To modify the button, just below the above you will see
    Code:
    <strong><a class="button" href="{U_AGREE_OVER13}">{AGREE_OVER_13}</a></strong>&nbsp;
    Replace AGREE_OVER_13 with your text, an example is
    Code:
    <strong><a class="button" href="{U_AGREE_OVER13}">{I AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND AM OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE}</a></strong>&nbsp;

    Guys, remember KISS; Keep it simple silly.

    When looking at what you said i really did think you was bashing me by what you put until i ready it again and see the rest of the posts LOL i now see what you mean it was meant to say
    Speaking which Ape.." it is quite annoying to me LOL its ok i can now understand that English is not your first language  we all say things mixed up some times and make it look like it did here.

    as i said the text on the page for making an account is Fixed there for a reason and is in our TOS that it not be changed but your welcome to add to it thou.

    I know its not what you want but as all forums have the same thing as a set rule we can not do a thing about it.

    I can't see it being a problem to your members as its a small bit of text that is easy to read its not really a lot if you ask me.

    LOL @brandon_g No i am Fine with it lol i read it at first you was mad at me but then see what you was meant to say realy it is fine i Don't take a lot to heart its a forum and not real life your miles away from me and we all mess up once in our life Wink

    anyway can i just say That if you get any problems with a member asking why this can not be changed say it is the law that this text is put out there for when you make an account then after that has been read they no longer need to see it again as this is only there when making an account on your forum or any other forum in the world.

    It is stranded software that All forum must have inplace Not Just FM's

    Anyway if this is solved please mark it as so by clicking the solved icon and resend your comment.

    The reason why it says 13 is because there parts of the world that rules about people under 13 creating accounts on forums.  Exactly some forum provider do not allow anyone under 13.  If they fine out someone under 13 has created an account, the account is deleted and the forum could ban.
