Invitation for member

I want my forum to be private one but unknown people are still registering to be member. That is why I lock the registration so there is no new member can register. But that also means my friend who I want them to register cannot register as well.
Is there any kinds of invitation code so only people who I give the code can register to the forum and no other people can register?

You can develop a proposal for a new property

just go to admin panel > users & groups > user options
and set "new accounts activation" to admin, then you get an email everytime someone registers an account and you can check if it is someone you invited or not. if so you can activate them and if not delete them.
