Chatbox changes not working on phpbb3 CSS

Description of problem

I am trying to customize my chatbox and I can't get the codes I've found on forumotion to work. Mainly I want to auto login to the chatbox when users login. And change the auto logoff to like 3 hrs. And remove msgs when you login/logout.
