How to activate a new member?
Any member that wants to register on your forum needs to feel registration form.  The newcomer fills in the compulsory fields the username, the email address and a password and optional fields like country, gender, hobbies...

3 activation modes

Once the registration done, the new member can access your forum depending on your activation choice. Indeed, on the administrative panel, the founder can select the activation mode:
Admin panel >> Users & Groups >> Users >> User options

- No activation: new members can register to your forum without any activation
- User: Users activate their account by received an activation email.

As long as the new member does not validate the link in the activation email, the member stays on the "inactive member list". You can manually activate those members via the "Inactive users" list:

- Admin: The admin receives an email and has to manually activate each new member.  The admin can verify the user profile before the final verification.

Please note: Your new member receives a notification email online when you validate his/her profile via the email. If you validate the new member via the "Inactive list' the member won't be informed.

Anti-spam tool

Add Mandatory

By default, mandatory fields are: username, email address, password and password confirmation.
Then, you can add other mandatory fields.

Admin panel>> Users & groups>> Users>> Profiles

Click on profile fields. You have all profile fields and you can create your own fields Laughing
Select the field you want to make mandatory => edit Edit =>

You can also activate the CAPTCHA code to prevent robot and spammers.

Admin panel>> Users & Groups>> User options>> Confirmation code: YES

Add Forumotion anti-spam tool

In order to prevent spam, we have implemented an anti-spam tool for abandoned forum (or forum without activity). The admin has to manually validate new members as long as the forum is without activity and can change the activation option.

The admin can also find the explanation on the pop-up

For the same reasons, guests won't be able to post on inactive forums :wouhou:
