Another one that's cropped up along with the first one, standard redirect and eliminates the ability to go back

Hello, hopefully this is the right spot to put this but lately my site has been having some difficulties on the mobile version, PC still works fine.

Basically, when opening the site on a mobile device, it will load for a second before giving myself and other users who access it on their phones a redirect to something about a virus alert that is clearly phony. We've tried several times to close then reopen, backtrack to the original page etc, and we still get redirected.

I hope this is something that can be addressed, especially if it turns out that the site has some kind of virus on it.

Not the best images, but one of the members did a couple screen shots. One you can just see part of the address. These things lockup their systems, so it's often a reboot to clear it.

    Forum is http://www.brothersofbriar.com/

Has the thought occurred to deny the ad partners access to the forums and see if the problem ends? I can kind of understand some forums introducing a problem if they have multiple templates and change them around. But we have done nothing for years. In fact, our owner is rarely around these days. No changes have been made to the templates of our forum unless Forumotion did it.

Please understand that I am frustrated. I had to go to my iPhone to see this problem, and I never surf the Internet on that device. My desktops and laptops do not have the problem. But our users report problems on all sorts of devices. That is the other thing frustrating me. Lack of good feedback from the users. Other than they cannot get logged in without having a problem. If they drift off to other forums on other systems, they may not come back to our forum.

Not being the owner of the site makes it difficult. I would have to try and persuade the owner to deal with this. I am also surprised Forumotion does not take care of it.

Can this be caused by pictures hosted on Forumotion for our website? Or linked via Photobucket?

Nemo, both the links you have posted contain a fair bit of information. But all about Google Chrome. The photo in the link I last posted from a user shows that new Microsoft browser. I never use Chrome myself. So how will any of that help us? Is this issue related to the problem where some members have been redirected to malware over the past few months? I would think that some of the users systems have reported malware trouble and now our website is reported as a possible site to avoid for safe surfing.

I do not see what the users complain about. If I could get all of them to run LinuxMint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit, with Firefox, Adblock and Ghostery, we would be having no trouble at all. I am one of several Admins, not a site owner. Our owner checks in on us rarely. The underlying bulletin board system is taken care of and provided by Forumotion. We have not made changes to any templates or overlays in, years. So why are we having users complain and why am I having to spend time trying to fix it myself?

Granted, as said before, I am not getting a lot of good information from the users. Just complaints. But this malware stuff they are seeing is preventing most of them from coping website addresses. They usually have to reboot to get control back. I only saw this when I used my iPhone to surf to our website. A device I usually do not surf on.

Is there some part of this arrangement that I am not understanding about what Forumotion is providing, and responsible for fixing? All I have seen really is, that they are working on the problem.

    Hello,

This issue is down to the user using Microsoft Smartscreen. Sometimes with this feature, it falsely blocks forumotion sites. Tell your admin and/or user to follow that the steps in the tutorial Nemo linked you to. This issue has happened before and in several cases following the steps did resolve the issue. After following all the steps, have the user clear their browser cache and cookies and see if it helps. Wink

    @Dimeolas ,

This is most definitelly not intentional on Forumotion's part. I just want you to know that. Porn and nudity is against forumotion's TOS, do you really think it would intentionally put up ads violating its own TOS? As said, it is a Global Techicinal Issue which is also why it is the section of such.

You need to understand that sometimes it just takes awhile to an issue completely, as unfornatelly, Forumotion is doing all it can and as fast as it can. You may have noticed, if you look back on all the recent and topics that whenever a user reports such an ad and provides all the information asked for by our pro admins, the ads are promptly removed by the ad provider and Forumotion then also blocks that ad's code on its own system as well.

Things have been getting better, but is it fixed and sorted out completely? Definitelly not, but Forumotion will continue to work as hard and fast as it can to remove all ads like this, until such a time as it is finally 100% resolved.

We apologize for all the frustation and want you to know Forumotion is all it can, working alongside its ad providers to sort out the issues.

We would appericate your further patience until the issues are sorted out. Smile

    Hello @Dimeloas,

As far as I know you are the only user with this specific problem. So I am going to assume the this problem is caused by an external source, maybe something you have added to your forum. If you have added JS scripts, HTML or other codes in the templates or the CSS it could be the source of the issue. If it is one of our providor's banners causing this, first I think there would be much more complaints and second if you want us to get rid of this we will need informations.

    Hello,

We're sorry about this disturbance. It's really not intentional and it's taking a big part of our time each day to report all redirections and verify if the situation is solved.

We applied some changes earlier regarding the mobile versions to stop these intempestive redirections. Please, can you tell us if the situation is better on your side? For us, we visited many forums and we didn't reproduce the redirections for the moment.

BigBruvOfEnglandUK wrote:Hello. Several of us are sometimes getting redirected to porn sites when we go onto our forum.

About the intempestive redirection on desktop version to adult websites, it's really complicated to define the cause (the Forumotion's ads or external resource implemented by the forum owner). We reproduced this redirection only 2 or 3 times here...

We will investigate on the forum: http://agingmachomen.foroactivo.com/. Please can you provide us the locations of the members who were redirected?

They're back! Users are complaining about being redirected starting this morning. Lucky Visitor and dates. Users say they are not interested.

One user pointed out that as the screen flipped to the redirect site, the border is now white, where it had been black previously.

So what changed overnight? Whatever it was, that's what's letting them in.

Is it even remotely possible that for some of our users that Youtube videos are now appearing as black or vertical black bars? That some attempted fix could affect only a few certain devices? It is only a few users. They claim they have done no updates or new software. It was simultaneous. It is only on our Forum, as it affects no other place they go to.

    Hello,

Here's what I need to help you. First when you say automatic, do you mean a redirection ? Like another page is opened or like you are redirected to another website.
So I need to know where are you connected from, in which country?
If it is happening on mobile devices or on deskstop version.
If you notice there's a ad banner that seems to be the same everytime send me a screenshot, the link by doing a right click and copy the link and the code by clicking right next to the banner and copy the code here.

    I connected from Thailand.
It happening both of mobile and desktop version.

I don't know what ads have a problem now because all ads are normally but the sound or music of advertisement are up loud.

When we found a problem automatic play the video of advertisement or redirection to another website, I will send a screenshot and copy a URL code to you.

    Thank you.
