    In progress Reporting Suspicious 'advert'

Post by Treemaid January 28th 2016, 5:11 pm

    Forum URL: elderberries.forumotion.co.uk

We have a suspected phishing advert on our site (screenies below). How do I report this or get rid of it? I am concerned for the security of our members.
    Thanks

Hello This set of ad's are not anything to worry about they are meant to be there there is nothing wrong with them they are just ad's from google.

Ah! That's a relief, I hope that's right. Presumably then if I clicked on the 'sign in' tab, it would open a Google sign in page? It's just a little strange that there is nothing to indicate what I would be signing into, on the ads themselves. Just going from the advert I think many forum users would assume that they were signing into their Forumotion account again to see some extra forum content.

can you give me a screen shot of what your seeing when you go to log in like your saying in your last cooment as im not sure to what your saying .

Them ad's should not give you a new page when loffing in

What you can do is make a thread about the ad's and say to the members that if they see the ad's not to worry about them and not to click on them.

We understand that this is all new to our members and the forum members and there is not really anything we can do as the ad's are paid by someone else we just use them to make our money to keep your forums Free for you.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.
I have not clicked on any of the tabs in that 'advert', so I don't know what would come up if I did. I don't intend to try it to find out, just in case. Wink
The screenshots I have given above are two separate, though similar ones, that have both appeared at the top, *after* I have logged into my Elderberries forumotion forums on my treemaid account.
I have already made a thread to warn members, again, just in case, though if they were going to fall for the false ads, they would probably see them and respond to those first I'm thinking.
Thank you for your advice. Smile

Thats ok lol i thought thats what you mean Wink thats me just trying to make sure thats all

I have the same Ad's and others on my site and i have asked about this before.

They are 100% fine and there should be a change of them soon.

I wish we had more power over the ad's but we don't all we have power over is if Google let porn and ad's about sex on them then we can call them up and say to have them removed as we have under age users on the system.

I hope this has cleared your concerns up and solved your Question

You have indeed provided me with some reassurance, though I have to confess to being still distrustful of those false ads themselves. You have also been informative in letting me know there is really nothing that can be done, which though a shame, I have to accept.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to reply to my concerns. Smile
