Urgent Assistance Please. My forum has been taken over.

Could a member of staff please contact me asap re your processes to allow a person to take over a forum .

I built a forum here and admittedly have not been on there much recently BUT.. I have found that someone else has taken over. He has posted that he has made contact with you and you have given him admin rights !

Surely your processes would contact me before this would happen ?

The process states that a founder that has been gone for 6 months and 1 day that someone else can claim the founder account.  The original founder has a 2 month period to reclaim the founder account.

Do you know what constitutes as "gone" and how I can reclaim admin rights ?

I think you mis understand the requirements on that thread, according to that topic the founder must have been gone for 6 months and 1 day OR The founder volunteerily OR all the current staff and admins agree that one should take over, a forum only needs to meet one of these 3 requirements, it does not have to meet all 3 for the change to be made.

Surely you would contact the founder with the email address registered before any change, regardless of the time of the last visit.
The first I knew is when there was the "admin" has changed their email address.
That cant be good practice ?

Why contact someone who has been gone for 6 months and 1 day? That is the reason why there is an option for someone to claim the founder account. Also the founder has two months to reclaim the forum from the date of the change.

I would think common courtesy would be a good one.

You have my contact details and it would take less time than having to go through this procedure and answering other posts from the guy who wanted to take over !

Well think about this example: A founder has been gone for 2 years and someone is claiming the founder account. Would you try contacting the founder?

I don't think there would be any time limit for me to contact the original owner.
A time limit AFTER sending a contact email would be far better. That is how most businesses operate.
You never know the founders circumstances but you have proof of trying.

I have discussed this with the user that wanted to take over by PM . He is welcome to stay on the forum
