    In progress Litigation Problems

    Post by NigelJackson Wed 27 Jul 2016 - 21:58

    Hello,

I'm dealing with a problem on my hosted forum (with paid domain) as an user that was banned multiple times is exploiting the litigations system to harass the administrators.

When replying to a litigation to explain the situation does our reply go only to forumotion staff or does it also get sent to the user who opened the litigation?

Thanks in advance for all the help you're able to provide.

    Hello,

If the forum was reported via the litigation tool then the report sent by the user will be sent to both you and our litigation team.

If it was reported via the 'Report An abuse' link at the bottom of the site, then the report only goes to your admin panel and a copy is NOT sent to Forumotion.

Either way it was sent, if your forum is in compliance with the Forumotion TOS, then you have nothing to worry about and can simply ignore the report.

Now as for contacting the reporting user, what do you mean by contact them back / reply to them back? Do you mean sending them an email or pm? May you explain exactly how you contacted/replied to the topic?

    -Brandon

What I mean is replying to the litigation. There is an option for an admin to reply to a litigation.

Does that reply get sent to the user as well or only to the litigation team?

There is? Wow I did not know that!

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think it may only be sent to the litigation team. Again I am not 100% sure of this. @Leviosa should be able to answer it for sure though (she works in head office).

I really do not know if your reply does, but the litigation report does go to both the Forumotion's litigation team and the founder of the reported forum.  The team might send it to the reported forum to get a reply.

Funny thing is i World not know this and would be good to find out as we all need to know this for a later date.

Well done for pointing this out @NigelJackson

It should really be sent to both but i am not 100% sure so the best one to ask will be our Pro admin

    Hello,

The answer to this must come from our head office, which is closed for the weekend. That said, we must wait atleast until Monday at the earliest before getting an answer to this.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience. Smile

Exactly has Forumotion contacted you about this?  I mean have they asked for a reply about the situation.

They haven't contacted me but there is an option to reply in the received litigation in the administration menu.

Ok.  Do you have a pink message on the homepage page (first page) of the administration panel?

I think it appeared before, yes. However if I go to Misc - Support - Litigations there is a litigation and in the tab Action there is an option for Reply.

My only question is that I'm looking for confirmation if I use that option to reply my text will only go to the litigation team at Forumotion or will it also be sent to the user who opened the litigation?

Why would it matter if both will get it?

It can matter when dealing with an offender that tries to take advantage of ToS and there's private or strategic information to be shared with the litigation team alone.

when you reply our team look at your forum then if the problem is fixed and there is no more problems we then close the case but the info is still saved on your forum.

As far as your member getting a reply Yes the member should get a copy of your report back to our team as they was the one that made the report in the first place.

Unless the member has asked not to get a reply back from us then they will not get any Emails
