Description of problem

I'm not exactly certain of the problem here, however I'll try to provide as precise information as I can.

I used to visit Naruto Saga, which is hosted on Forumotion. This was when I was back home, and I was able to use the chatbox freely, logging in and logging out as per normal.

However, since I've gone to university, I've had to use a proxy to access Naruto Saga. I've discovered that the use of a proxy (I have tried multiple proxies) prevents me from seeing the Chatbox. Where the Chatbox normally is, I now only get a blank space. This affects both my friend and I, who are both re-visiting the site after a period of inactivity.

While I can RP on the forum with a proxy, I am unable to access the chatbox; I would like to be able to join in on their conversations sometimes if possible. Any suggestions?

I have dealt with that issue from using proxy servers at specific places too. The solution I have for you is using the Opera browser as they use their own proxy servers within the pages so you should be able to bypass the college's servers. Everything is functional when using their browser too which is nice. Try that at least.

I think the step you suggested needs me to manually input a proxy address into Opera's settings. If I'm not mistaken, the same can be done for Firefox and Chrome. But I can't do this because I don't have the proxy address, so I can't actually redirect Opera's browser to a proxy automatically.

No, I never had to do anything with Opera's settings. Did you try it?

Hmm, I tried visiting the forum on Opera, but as I was on my college's internet, it remained blocked. I similarly tried using a proxy via the Opera browser, and the chatbox remained missing. Am I doing something wrong/different than what you've suggested?

What happens when you enter the link to the chatbox manually into the browser?

Ah, yes! I should've mentioned that sooner. When I do get there, I get a very weird image. It's as if the Chatbox doesn't fully connect.

This is the image I get after the page fully loads. I can't see who else is on the site even if I know someone's on it, as another friend of mine is logged in. Clicking the 'Log in' button causes the page to reload and give me the page as it is, without having actually logged myself in.

So you can use the chatbox?

I can't 'use' it, as I'm not logged into the chatbox, nor does clicking the 'Log in' button actually log me into the chatbox (I've double-checked with my friend via mobile). So, no, unfortunately I can't use the chatbox even with this method.

Have you tried different browsers?  So you think the issue is caused by your school's server?

I have tried using Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. I strongly believe that the issue is caused by my school's server blocking Forumotion, as my friend's home's internet is perfectly able to access Forumotion and the chatbox.

It does sound like it is the school's server.  Are there other things on the forum that you can not use?  Also are you accessing the forum using a mobile device?

To my knowledge, there's nothing else on the forum that I can't use, though I will certainly keep an eye out. I'm not accessing the forum from a mobile device, no.

I actually believe the problem of the missing chatbox is that I'm using a proxy. My school server outright has forumotion banned; hence, I log onto the forum via a proxy, and it is here that the chatbox goes missing. I had the opportunity to ask someone and he suggested that a possibility is that, as Forumotion hosts the chatbox, that there may be a server code on Forumotion or the chatbox itself that prevents proxy IPs from accessing the chatbox. Could that be a reason?
