    Solved Domain name

Post by SolowCars September 12th 2016, 10:00 pm

Hi, Im new here and was hoping to get some advice/help..

I have been going round in circles with this now and yes, it's probably me over thinking and overlooking things but i'm at the point now where my head is totally cabbaged with it all.

    I have:
    - A domain name with GoDaddy
    - A forum with Forumotion
    - An ecommerce store with Shopify

www.SoLow-Cars.co.uk is my shopify store, i have a menu link named "Forum" that will obviously link to my forum when it is up and running, problem is, I dont have a clue on what im doing properly to change the forum URL to match the shops. e.g. SoLow-Cars.co.uk/forum rather than solow-cars.makeforum.co.uk

I have tried following guides and help pages but got nowhere as i don't really know what im doing too much so im looking for an idiots guide on how to achieve this so i can potentially get my forum put on my site...

I purchased 2000 credits to try and change url that way but with no ".co.uk" (which is part of my logo, name and brand) it seems to have been a total waste..shopify and forumotion not capable of this?)

e.g. if someone logged into the store, they would also be logged into the forum using the same login details and vice versa.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

The topic was posted in the wrong section, so I have moved it to the correct section.
Please read our forum rules:  ESF General Rules

After reading your post again, I believe what you want is not possible.  You can only have a domain name redirect to your forum.

    Solved Re: Domain name

Cheers, im still no closer to getting this sorted though..

What am i doing wrong here..?

    - I log into godaddy
    - dns setting
    - add record > cname
    - enter host name as "forum"
    - enter points to as "solow-cars.makeforum.co.uk"
    - enter ttl as "1 week"
    - click finish, click save
    - log into forumotion admin panel
    - General > forum > forum address > Personalised domain name
    - entered "forum.solow-cars.co.uk" and save
    - get error: The supplied domain name is not well configured
Your CNAME must redirect to : solow-cars.makeforum.co.uk

Im useless with dns settings and im obviously doing something wrong here but im not sure what exactly..

Also, when i enter forum.SoLow-Cars.co.uk it goes to forum.forumactif.com, whats with that?

You will need to contact GoDaddy about this since you did not purchase the domain name through Forumotion.
