    Post by Ant@edinburghdoos October 10th 2016, 1:21 pm

Hi there, a few members on the site have been reporting issues within my site ie- posting YouTube videos, quick reply box missing, can't use quotes, the emoticons aren't working and it's all the members who use IPads or Iphones. Even the reply box is considerably small and a lot more difficult to use.

    Same here: http://reshistorica.historyboard.net/

Nothing to do With Safari - it's the same for all browsers I've tried. Symptoms include very long delays connecting to all the required components used to generate the view, missing graphics such as icons and buttons when it does eventually load, and a pretty unusable reply box delivered as it is single-line, missing its background colour (so typed text is almost invisible) and missing all the usual edit buttons etc.

The problem was noticed first a few hours ago but hasn't got any better or worse in the meantime, just remained pretty dismal.

PS: Forgot to add that loading this help forum's site is equally problematic. Takes ages today ...

    Hello @nordmann,

Do you use a antivirus that could possibly block some elements on the forum ? Or maybe extensions or plugins on your browser. I personally can visualise your forum normally.

Hi @Leviosa, thanks for the reply.

I have just tried again having disabled my antivirus. The same problems persist unfortunately ...

I have no plugins at all in IE, one in Safari and only two in Chrome. But having deactivated them all anyway I am still experiencing incomplete/slow loading of page views.

The site responds ok on my Android mobile, even in classic view. But that's not much help to my site's users who are very much desktop People too.

I have traced activity within Safari, Chrome and IE for delays when loading my own website, this help forum site, and also the administration pages for my own site. All of them are waiting an inordinately long time for content from illiweb.com, which as far as I can see generally fails to arrive - hence the ruined format and missing functionality all over the pages displayed.

Could this be the root cause of @Ant@edinburghdoos problems also? It definitely seems to be the root of mine.

It must be something blocking it on your computer since it is working fine on mobile and on my devices too. Can you think of other softwares running in your computer that could cause this?

It is affecting users of my site in Southern England, Norway and France, but not in Greece, New Zealand or the Middle East (or wherever you are presumably) Smile . And those affected all confirm the "connecting" hang when accessing illiweb.com. I cannot see how my computer can be held responsible (though it's a Dell so anything is possible). Smile

I seem to remember this happened before and was fixed by forumotion techies once illiweb was identified as a problem.

Forumotion headquarters is located in France which is where @Leviosa is connecting from. I wonder if it is something that affects only certain devices or something?

    Hi @Brandon

Good point. It sounds like an ISP issue to me. A simple test I performed was to try to open the illiweb.com site direct from a browser (no reference at all to forumotion sites or servers in other words) and then trace the traffic. I can do this as I am within a net enabled LAN in which I am the administrator. My requests receive "illiweb.com refused to connect" browser messages and I can see that the recipient address at their end was contacted. So it looks like illiweb's own system is refusing data queries from certain sources.

PS: Thanks for the input from both of you, by the way. In this case I reckon there's not much can be done except wait for a volume of incidents mount up so that the issue is finally recognised as a general one and not related to any individual's computer. I'll send all my unfortunate users on Gardening leave for the duration Smile

This sounds like the same thing that's been happening to video game console users for awhile now. @Leviosa now might be a good time to resolve this before nobody can access any forumotion website regardless of browser or device...:/

    Hi

I just want to confirm that the failed access to illiweb graphics issue has been resolved (I assume by illiweb themselves?) and therefore my site is being loaded again without complication in all browsers and on all platforms that I have tested (Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone and using Safari, Chrome and IE).

Ant@edinburghdoos - before you contemplate a platform update/upgrade can you check that the issue you reported has improved through this resumption of availability? I think the advice you received so far has been a little misguided (use the mobile version). Non-graphics versions will always work better than full versions, but ideally we want and expect our sites to utilise all the facilities forumotion makes available at the design stage.

I can assure you that there were Smile - their site was flagged by several ISPs yesterday as unresponsive when I ran some IP traces through the ISPs' query portals (this has happened to illiweb before). The flags began disappearing about midnight CET and were all gone by about 6am when I checked last.

But yes, all is good again and I am once more a happy bunny. guitar

This was not from illiweb's end but as you wish.
