    Solved Information About Removing Ads

Post by Chelly March 19th 2017, 2:02 am

I'm having trouble finding in-depth information about removing ads from your forum. I wanted to know how they based the prices and whatnot.

A new forumotion forum only requires 100 credits to remove ads from its members for one month. My forum requires 5x's that amount and I would like to get more information on why that is and how I can lower that cost.

    Hello @Seriously,
For more information you can check out this topic.
    https://help.forumotion.com/t1219-credits-management

This is probably the most detailed "official" topic we have on the matter regarding the Forumotion Credit system and what you can use it for.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Cheers,
    James

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't solve my issue.

I want to know why it costs 5x more for my forum to remove ads compared to a new forum. I'd prefer specific reasons and what I can do to lower that cost.

Is this something the forums cannot help me with? Do I need to contact some kind of billing/CS support?

What do you mean it costs 5x more for your forum compaired to a new one @Seriously?

I have 2 forums and both are showing the same amount of credits needed to remove ads. Neither one is more then the other. The price is a bit different the longer you wish to remove them for and if it is for Members only or for Members AND Guests.

Hello The cost of credits is the same for everyone no matter where you live or if it's a new forum or not.

The reason for the 500 credits a month is we need to make money to keep you no a free server and your forum to stay free always.

Now we make money to keep your forums free by the ad's we place on your forum.

Now if we gave you the forum for less credits then we would loose money and we would shut down as we will never make the money to pay the staff at the head office and the tech team and keep our servers up to date,

So asking for the cost of 500+ credits to remove ad's is a must.

Now it is cheaper to buy credits and then pay yearly.

it's not really down to us if you only make 100 credits a year on your forum as we don't give credits.

you could always take part in our contests when they are on in a chance to win more credits but i can't say you would win.

    1 year =
    1000 Credits ( 10.30 EUR )
    1000 Credits ( 9.30 GBP )
    1000 Credits ( 16.60 AUD )
    1000 Credits ( 16.60 CAD )
    1000 Credits ( 12.40 USD )
    1000 Credits ( 94.20 HKD )
    That's some of the prises

That's not a lot of money for a free forum and remove your ad's for all your members and non members.

Solved Re: Information About Removing Ads

Pardon me, but I didn't say we couldn't afford it, I just said we would like to lower the costs.

I still don't have my question answered and this is starting to get frustrating.

A new forumotion forum costs 100 credits to remove ads for 1 month for members only.
My forum, created back in 2012, costs over 500 credits to remove ads for 1 month for members only.

That means for a year of ad free for members only will cost about 5,000 credits, give or take. That is quite a lot for a 'free forum' in my opinion.

I know you need money to pay staff and keep the servers running, that wasn't my question.

My question is, WHAT causes the price to go up? Is it the amount of members? The amount of posts? How much traffic we get daily? What???

Edit: I already figured out one thing that causes the price to go up.

We had over 26,000 members. We went in and deleted all of the inactive accounts bringing that number to just under 20,000 members today. The price went from over 500 credits for 1 month of no ads (members only) to 450 credits for 1 month of no ads (members only).

Is the amount of members the only thing that effects the price of removing ads?

Yes, your forum's activity can cause a price difference.

Thanks for this answer. We have an active forum so I understand I won't be able to lower the price much further, but knowing what we can do to keep things affordable helps a lot. Now we know to prune out our member list more frequently so we aren't being charged for inactive accounts.
