my users are asking why they cant use character map names

Hi i wonder If some one can help me im a little new to this stuff,
Ihave had chatters come in to my forums and making character map names,
I have seen this used in other forums and chat sites and i would like to know if there is any way i can get this set up on my forums aswell.

when some one puts a character map name in the name box it comes up all messed up in the forums and on my admin list of names and members
is there anyway this can be done
