Code to keep highlighted text selected in a post?

Hello,

I searched around for this already but found nothing, so I am posting my issue here.

When I am writing a post on my forum and go to highlight a portion of the text in order to apply multiple BB codes (say I want to bold and italicize the selected text), the highlight disappears and "unselects" my text after I apply only one code. That being said, I then have to go back into the post and re-highlight the same piece of text just to apply the next code. I have never had an issue with this on any other forum other than Forumotion forums, and it's quite annoying and simply an inconvenience. On all other forums, the text has always remained highlighted and allows me to apply multiple codes, like bold, italics, and text size without having to re-select the text.

Is there a code that can fix this?

@KemicalCandy, after testing out the problem, I found the issue you are experiencing. Whenever you are typing in the editor you are viewing the coding format and therefore when you highlight over text and click the button to either bold or italic, it will stop highlighting. You need to switch the editor mode to WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) and possibly make that by default.

Admin panel --> General --> Messages and Emails --> Configuration --> Messages --> Activate the WYSIWYG mode by default in the posts (yes)

I, along with many of my other members, tend to write posts in the regular format that allows you to see the BB coding. Is there any code that I can apply in the admin panel that will allow highlighted text to remain selected in this posting format, or is it only possible in the WYSIWYG format?
