aha , easy way ? u can use "smudge" , "dodge" or "sponge" tools ..
hard way , u can use gradient tool.

google these tools tutorials .. u'll find some amazing stuff out there.

haven't heard of gradient mixing but apart from what }{e-man has said... you can always change one image to overlay or softlight in the blending options ...
additionally you can use the ripple ... but you'd need to place your image vertically to use it... more grudge methods would include wind and stagger with appropriate overlays and softlights
