    Solved Change of domain name

Post by Landroval March 7th 2018, 12:11 am

    Technical Details

    Forum version : #phpBB3
    Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Google Chrome, Internet Explorer
Who the problem concerns : All members
When the problem appeared : Recently
Forum link : ( link is hidden, you must reply to see )

    Description of problem

    Hello,
all of a sudden, the domain of our forum changed from forumotion.eu to forumczech.com.
As we have paid for SSL certificate, all users now get the information that the connection is not secure because the name of the certificate now does not match the name of the site.
This is very confusing for the users.
Can you please change the domain name back to the original one we used since the very beginning?
    Thanks,
    Landroval

Try this: turn off the SSL certificate and turn it back on.

If this means switch to HTTP and then back to HTTPS, it did not help.
I doubt it could as the certificate is still issued for forumotion while the domain changed to forumczech.
The error is pretty clear - Mismatched address: The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. So either domain name should change back to forumotion or certificate should change to forumczech.
It is very unfortunate situation as the browsers instruct users not to go to the page :-(.

Will make a ticket asking them to change your ssl certificate to the new url. Just bare in mind it might take a day or two to get a response.

    Thanks a lot.
If possible, please also ask them not to change domains on https pages. In fact, I do not care too much about the website address (as it redirects automatically) but the users are discouraged to access the forum as the browsers state it is not safe and secure. The certificate has to match and it is not possible if the domain changes all of the sudden.
