Mark PM as read function modification

Hi there!

I saw this new function on my forum: https://help.forumotion.com/t159338-new-mark-pm-as-read-unread
I would like to know how to remove it, or modify it because it's making my menubar longer than necessary. Not to mention for some reason it puts a dot after the sentence which is kind of annoying.
So is there a way to override the text or remove this function?

Hello could you please screen shot where you see the dot so we can report it to our team.

Sadly this can not be turned off it is made to be used in our servers everyone has the same.

what is your forum version ? is it phpBB2 cause in my test forum i don't see any dot by default

It's phpBB2 & it's not only my forum, there are a few forums where I'm only a member but the dot is there too, like it's closing the sentence.

Sadly the update is not something we can change to make the text smaller.

Thank you. Also it's probably a lot to ask (or maybe even impossible) but can't the word "privát" go to? It's really unnecessary, also makes sense without it and wouldn't be so long.

Edit: I also checked it on a few different languages and most of them simply write "Messages" or "Private Messages" for us is "You have no new private message" aka "Nincs új privát üzeneted". Is there really no way these translations could be shorter for example have the same lenght as "Messages" aka "Üzenetek"?
So what I'm trying to say: Is there a way to translate it short not to make a whole sentence out of it like in many other languages ?

I have asked for our pro admin to come read this topic they will read it and give feedback to our Tech team.

Sadly we do not have a Team that dose the translating for Hungarian in our head office.
Sadly this takes time to get this done without someone we trust to do this on our server tools.

I am asking as our team did make a change to the system and most of the forums was changed to "Messages" when you have no PM's and then it would change if you got new messages.

"1 unread message" (instead of "You have 1 unread message" / %d olvasatlan privát üzeneted van
"x unread messages" (instead of / "You have x unread messages" /%d olvasatlan privát üzeneted van

Will be "1 olvasatlan üzenet" and "X olvasatlan üzenetek" OK ?

The dot in the end of the sentence is already deleted, it will be online soon.

I did, but in the Hungarian version it's still a couple words but it's not that big of an issue, because we're used to it and have been working with it's lenght for a while so, we can absolutely live with that.

I updated the information, it will be send automatically online soon.

This new 'mark pm as read' function is messing up my forum and I don't like it. My private message icon flashes to tell me I've got a new PM, but there's not a new PM there.

I get an email to say I've got a new PM, but there's nothing there.

I also no longer get a pop up box when I refresh the forum to say there's a new message....just a constant flashing 'New PM' thing that never switches off.



Whatever it is you've done, it's not working.

Sadly it still says for example: "5 olvasatlan üzenetek".
So the "ek" part didn't go away when it's multiple messages.

@curiouspandabear please can you write the correct sentences with one private message and many private messages to be sure?

- 1 olvasatlan üzenet
- 5 olvasatlan üzenetek

Is it correct?

This is the correct one:
- 1 olvasatlan üzenet
- 5 olvasatlan üzenet
