    Grid Layout available for all forum versions

    Dear users,

    About 3 weeks ago, we added a new display mode on 2 versions of our forums, namely ModernBB and AwesomeBB. This design, called GRID layout, allows you to highlight certain sections of your forums, thanks to the display of the featured image.

    Today, the GRID layout is available for all versions of Forumotion forums cheers , which means that each administrator, without exception, can apply it to the sub-forums of their choice.

    As a reminder, this layout has the advantage of structuring your topics in a clear and orderly manner by using images to illustrate their content. Thus, the GRID mode allows better visual accessibility so that your members can quickly locate the content that interests them.


    Examples of GRID display in sections

    GRID mode is an optional display that the administrator can enable or disable for each section of the "forum" type. It is particularly interesting for sections with a lot of images or those where topics can be easily illustrated.

    Enable and configure GRID display


    To enable this option in the sub-forums of your choice and test this new display, go to your administration panel.

    When creating ( Add ) or modifying ( Edit ) a forum or sub-forum, it is possible to display the topics in GRID by clicking on "Yes" to the option Display the forum in “Grid Layout” design.

    You can easily identify forums and sub-forums with GRID layout by the presence of this icon:

    To add or modify the image of a topic, you just need to modify the URL of the Facebook image in the block "SEO Tools" which is located at the bottom of each topic:

    Please note that if no Facebook image URL is provided, the first image URL found in the first message of the topic will be used (under certain conditions). For more information on the Facebook image, see our tutorial: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Tools.

    Note: This new display mode is available on all Forumotion forums without any template modification. For administrators wishing to customize this display, a new template will soon be available in Display  Templates  General.
