Trying to separate forums into groups [done] Empty Trying to separate forums into groups [done]

Post by Brad38 May 10th 2008, 4:40 pm

Can someone tell me how I can separate my forums into groups? Right now, all my forums appear directly one after the other on the index, but I would like there to be a space and individual headers between forum groupings.

Thanks in advance.

Hello and thank you.

I think I see what you mean and I guess I've done somethings wrong then. When I started my forum, I started with "Forums" not categories. Then I put more forums inside the forums when it should have been Forums inside of categories I guess. Is there any easy way to fix this without messing things up?

Ok,

I figured it out, but now the spacing of the cells or rows? or whatever they are called are different from the first grouping of forums to the second grouping. Will this correct itself in time?

Can you add your forum to your profile, so I can click the link to see what you mean exactly?

Yes, ok, address added. Now if you look at the first group of forums, compared to the second grouping just underneath, you will see the spacing is bigger in the spaces between the second group of forums.

Thanks so much! Smile

Never mind about the other groupings after the first two groups of 4...I'm still working on grouping those forums together and in categories. Embarassed

Now I can understand why it would be wider on Pics and Vids and Introduce Yourself, because the description is so long it needs the second row, but I don't understand why it is larger on the other's.

When you are completely done with all of them, then we will take a look, okay?

Hello and thank you very much. Actually I think it's because I'm not done grouping the forums yet. I just grouped another set and then the spacing corrected itself on the grouping above.

I will wait until I'm done but I think this was the problem. You've all been very nice and helpful!!!!!

Thanks Hello Smile

Nope, it's still not right. I had it working and after I'd finished arranging my forums into the proper category. Then I went back to add more forums and the spacing went off again. Hmmmmm...very strange.

Hi Sorry,

I will put the link to my forum up again. If you go to it and look, I've got the forums arranged now the way I want, BUT... the spacing is off with some of the forums. I don't know if their are called cells or rows but some of the rows are wider than others and they shouldn't be. I suppose it's not a big deal but I'm a little bit of a perfectionist and like things exact, lol. I also noticed today as well that (sometimes) the vertical columns and lines were out of alignment as well. They would shift over and look uneven. Now this isn't happening all the time and seems to be random....very weird.

Thanks for all the help everyone! Smile

Hello,

Thanks for looking....I kinda figured that people not be able to see what I'm meaning. It's mostly fine but I just don't understand why the rows aren't the same space apart. If you look down at the forum under "other pets"...look at the spacing between those forums compared to the spacing with the other forums...it's different. Look at the space between where my moderator's name is, compared to the description of the forum in the "other pets" forums. Then look at the spacing between the description and my moderator in some of the other forums.

Hello everyone,

Here is my most recent screen capture of what I'm talking about. You will see that some of the columns aren't lining up and as well...I've indicated with red lines where the rows are not of the same spacing.:

dude, edit button next time...

WOW, never seen that before. Try shortening the description in the 'Introduce Yourself' forum and maby they will line up.

Thanks Drag and all...

I have fixed the problems.....I HOPE! Seems like there were codes indicating page breaks and other things in my forum descriptions. I didn't put them there I didn't think but I saw things like <br> after my descriptions and there were some other codes in there as well that I think were causing things to be out of alignment.

Anyway, I think I've fixed it and I'm sorry for all the questions and what not. Hopefully I won't have to bug anyone in the coming days. lol!
