Security Log - Problem found
The security log in the admin panel is quite useful and allows me to monitor any changes to the forum, made by the few mods I have. I have however, come across a possible loophole, which although isn't a major problem, does make me wonder if there are similar 'bugs' in the system.
If a moderator adds any text to the comment field of a users profile, then this should be recorded in the security log, yes?
However, the log only seems to record the update to a users profile if done via admin>users & groups>users. If the comments are added when accessing the profiles via the Memberlist link in the forum itself, any changes made are not recorded in the security log.
Perhaps this is something that should be looked at by the Tech team, as it does pose the question of other security issues not being recorded.

Re: Security Log - Problem found
I do not see how this is a problem. It is just a mod saying something about a user.

Wrong Place.
Ok, 1st Mistake, WORNG PLACE to post this, if u ned help, this is best in "Admin Panel Problems" not Suggestions.
2nd. The log Just Shows whats been done in the ADMIN panel. and by who, and where they did it. hence the I.P Address, so if u have a hacker, u can ban him/her/it befre it screws ur board over.

Thanks for your more than positive response.
I considered where might be the best place to post this and as I decided this was an issue that needed looking at and/or improvement generally (I've spoken with other Forumotion users who've recognised this same issue), I decided this was the best section in which to put this post.
As to your 2nd point, the security log should I believe , record any issue that impacts the forum or it's users, regardless of whether that action has been made by the admin or mod. Perhaps you'd like to read again my last sentance in the opening post, as I'm curious if this issue raises questions with other areas of recording.
Finally, should I feel it appropriate for my posts to be moderated, I'm more than pleased for that to be done, by a site moderator.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Security Log - Problem found
Hello, I have a problem with my forum; when I go to admin panel and try to do changes it says "Could not insert to security log"
Also, users can't view threads, instead they see "Could not obtain post/user information." What can i do to fix it?
Thank you

Currently, it isn't open. Forum's Administration panel's don't work now.
Re: Security Log - Problem found
You can't make that judgment. Not everyone's Admin Panels are not working. My Administration Panel is certainly working. Next time, be sure to say "some" or "the majority of".KirbySB wrote:Currently, it isn't open. Forum's Administration panel's don't work now.

So it means that it is not my concern to fix it? Everything will be ok?

Re: Security Log - Problem found
Yes, it definitely will be. Forumotion would go down if they didn't fix it.
