What is the best anti virus firewall and spy ware

I have to renew my Norton in August.
From what I have been reading there may be better options
I have listed the only two I know in the poll.
What do yo all think is good/bad in the way if firewall anti spy anti virus and email security etc;

avg is free, norton was a nightmare to get off our pc's

we all use avg and its great

Kaspersky Lab(you can buy this from pc world now)
nod32 is a good one too but i dont think you can buy this in shops in the uk so you will have to get it off the net

i wouldn't use a free anti-virus or free firewall

I say Kaspersky.

I don't use any antiviruses ... It slows your system down.
I use firefox so I am immediately informed when i enter a harmful site. I don't accept CD's or DVD's that haven't been checked on someone elses PC... and I have never gotten a virus.

I used to use norton... but he's a RAM killer, and he's overrated ...
I used kaspersky ... and even though others say its good... it went and installed malware onto my PC.

So ever since i've been running around the battlefield(the net) in my underwear holding 1 magical shield called Mozilla Firefox.

i don't use any antiviruses, but eset smart security is the best, at least in my opinion

If you ask me, i will choose AVG 8.0 because it has full protection
even it's only a free edition only.

I like Mcafee a lot. My Dad uses Norton and it is horrible. Mcafee is great although it is kind of expensive.

For a good quality free firewall try comodo pro.
They also do a beta antivirus, not used it yet though.
I also advise avg but if so run avast alongside it.
Zone alarm was once the best firewall but now its suffering a nortonism and is full of bloat.
You should also use spybot and if possible adaware.
As for commercial products I wouldn't be paid to have Mc caffee or norton anywhere near my computer.
I have yet to find a commercial product that delivers what it promises
I do in the course of my business check out extremely dodgy websites and as yet comodo has stopped even the worst sites attacking my computer.
As for jalokim running no virus killer and relying on firefox I can only say one thing at least get a free one on your comp and do a scan as soon as possible, especially as you have a staff position on here.
Saying I haven't been attacked yet is along the lines of famous last words.

i just checked out the price of the top Mcafee and it is about half what I pay for Norton.
I am happy to pay a reasonable amount if I get the right thing.
I have heard the freebies dont cover email.
I shall def, take a look at comodo and see what they offer.

mcafee is getting like norton have you look at Kaspersky Lab

Personally, I wouldn't put Norton on any of my systems (5) if they paid me to use it. I've used AVG in the past and it's pretty good, but now I use Avast free edition and it's less a memory hog and doesn't slow my systems down as much as AVG.

Anti-virus and firewall are two totally different things. If you run Winblows, the firewall included is more than sufficient. Do NOT use Zone Alarm - which was excellent years ago but is now basically bloat-ware.

For Spyware, I use 2 .. Ad_Aware 2007 free edition and Spyware Blaster. Update weekly and you should not have any issues there. I see a lot of people using Spybot, but I tried it and didn't care for it because you have to run it manually to find spyware/malware. Spyware Blaster runs in the background and won't even let crap install itself on your system. No manual input is required.

Have a look at this site, it's a full anti virus programme with regular updates and best of all it's free to down load and it's yours for life. Also free is a ad_ware and spyware protection which is also a full free download.

Good on you mamabear...i don't think you will go wrong with comodo...every anti virus programme claim they are the best, but at a cost. At least this one is free with no gimmicks. Iv'e used it for a couple of years now and i think it's great...they also have their own support forum which is handy and are very quick and friendly to respond to questions.
