Banning ips

Well the past 2-3 days we have had many comments on the shoutbox that quests can see very rude and inappropiate ones for a parenting forum and many members are getting annoyed.
They say that a member is spamming there site yet when i say please email us with ips etc so we can see who it is the reply your board is ugly as **** your all spamming ***** and you need to grow up but there never email us with ips.
I have banned severeal ips yet they are still getting on

ban the email adress and anything else you've got on them.

kylesmummy, if there is spamming going on, from your members or anyone else, you need to be very careful, i have seen boards ruined for sometimes innocently sharing a link to their site on forums where members are fiercly loyal...and getting attacked until their members are all put off by it. I would try setting your shotbox module to members only, by changing its module permissions.

It isnt one for the site it can not be set to members etc
I have asked members if they have done it to say which site etc so i can apologise but no one is saying they are.
The people saying it will not email me with ips screen shots etc they refuse to.
They are not member as far as i am aware if less they are using a fake name

that suggests to me that the people saying you are spamming are not admins of the site. therefore they wont have access to the ip's and will not be reasonable. Perhaps consider removing the shout box for a short time. Ignore them. and whilst i think most forums spam, intentionally or unintentionally it could be worth warning members that they really need to be careful about it.
