Graphics Gallery

First topic message reminder :



Here I propose a Graphics section for Forumotion members to share some of
thier creations with us. We have alot of creative minds among us and
inspiring graphic artists egar to share , learn and expand thier
graphic skills. So please feel free to post some of your work here if
you'd like.

What the Graphics Gallery is Not :

~ A place to attack other members creations : I ask you to please be nice
and refrain from hateful, judgemental posts of this nature. Members
found doing so will be addressed accordingly.

~ A place to spam one's entire graphic creation history: I ask you to please be selective and avoid over posting graphics here. Members are allowed to share
thier graphic designs here once a day , if they choose. ( Please use the edit feature to add to the original post if you feel the need to share more .) Graphic posts must be seperated by a 24 hour time frame.

~ A place for explicit , inappropriate graphics of a sexual nature,
graphics including profanity and such offensive materials will be
removed and warnings will be given.

Please Note: These rules may be updated at anytime, accordingly if necessary. So members, please reread them often and respect them, so we may all enjoy sharing our graphics here.

I think the compression is too high and you're loosing quality, either reduce the compression when saving the image or save them as PNG (which has the distinct advantage of transparence )

and Tim yes this is the infamous plum-> that became an apple -> that became a cherry -> that became an apple again -> i got tired of the fruit varietions so I just started calling it the thing.

It's been a long time since last time I posted some graphics I made.

Lately, I'm working on a PunBB 1.3.x design (the real PunBB, not the FM one) on request. It's the first time I work with PunBB I'm almost finished modifying the CSS. What is left is testing under IE before I deliver the design's ZIP archive to the webmaster.

The layout is fully made with GIMP. Only the main logo (and its derivatives for folder icons) isn't made by me, the webmaster gave me a transparent PNG copy of the logo so I can integrate it in the layout.

The webmaster wanted a simple and clean style and he gave me some examples from which the style is inspired.

I started this with a 900*600 document.

Then, here are the tools you are most likely to use in a webdesign :
- Selections, its options (Add, Remove) and its modifications (Grow, Shrink, Feather, Invert)
- Gradients (mostly linear, foreground to background, foreground to transparent)
- Paths (very useful for complex selections)
- And the most important : layers and its modes

And to cut an image in pieces : Image > Transform > Guillotine (I think the English word is Ok, I need someone to confirm since I'm currently on Windows for testing purpose, so I can't launch GIMP in English as easily on Windows than on Linux... both OS are in French by default on my PC and so, the programs are mostly in French)
For a webdesign, you mostly need to do it at least twice or more because of the complexity.
