fade edges

hi i saw a tutorial that you could remove edges in gimp by going in script-fu
but i have no script-fu thing in my gimp navbar how do i fix it? heres the tutorial

To make the corners rounded, select the layer, then go to "Select > Rounded Rectangle...". The Script-Fu for rounded corners should pop up. Adjust the slider then click on "OK".

It's because the tutorial is 3 years old and is based on an older version of GIMP, I suppose before 2.2.

On 2.2, the rounded corners script-fu was already in the Select menu, and in 2.4, the Script-fu menu has been merged with the Filters menu.
