Affiliates?

What is this, how is this used, etc. I know nothing about this and I wanted to know more. Is it like sponsors? Well please answer me if you could.

Affiliates are like Partner websites that you are essentially advertising on your forum. This is usually consentual with the other website.

ok thank you. so is it like sponsors? i am not very familiar with this stuff, and do not know anything about sponsors either. some members in my gaming community are working on several sponsors, so when we do get the sponsors, do i like put there link on my site, is that how it goes?

I believe sponsors pay you money to do whatever you do, so I guess affiliates can be sponsors.

Well, if someone pays you for placing their link on your site, even better. Wink

If not, it's just an exchange of links between two sites - so that both can benefit as the users from the other site are aware of your forum as partner site.

Generally you can create affiliates - links or linked images - with these code below.

<a href="TARGET LINK">LINK NAME</a>
for normal links, and:

<a href="TARGET LINK"><img src="IMAGE LINK" /></a>
for clickable images.
