i came on here and i noticed that the icon wasnt the usual yellow hourglass. how do i change that?

Look in you admin control panel for a notification about the new updates.
if you go to General>configuation there are 8 to choose from.
if you want something else, i think there is a tutorial on that somewhere. search "favicon"
