How to make a homepage?

I am wondering how I could make a homepage that doesn't have the forums on it. I've been to some sites using forumotion that have made a homepage that also leads to other pages, and then one of the pages it leads to is the forums which is completely separate. How am I able to make a homepage like that.

Admin Panel\Models\Portal & Widgets\Install it

Then you can go to
Forum widgets management\Edit the page

Even though it say Portal its still the Home Page you can change it in the Buttons so say Home.

That's not exactly what I was thinking of. This site used forumotion and is a good example of what I'm trying to make my homepage into. Click on tab at the top "forum" and you'll be able to tell they're using forumotion.

That's not exactly what I was thinking of. This site used forumotion and is a good example of what I'm trying to make my homepage into. Click on tab at the top "forum" and you'll be able to tell they're using forumotion.

I was looking at it and its not a forumotion site. You just going to have to do what I said above.

No, its forumotion, they've been using forumotion for their forums, they just are paying for the domain name and stuff.

Does anyone know a good way to make it?
