I don't know all flags, and I think, that most people are not know all flags. Threfore I think, that it can be useful that if mouse pointer stays over the flag, the topic with country name appears.

I think that if you state your country in the "Location" field, then people will know what country you are from. The flag just adds a bit of color to your profile.
