Why can't I find my forum via the search engine?
I understand not being able to find my forum on, say, Google since I doubt it gets many hits (yet, hopefully) but even when I go on forumotion and use YOUR search engine for your own forums, it doesn't show up! Why is that? Here is the link, perhaps someone can inform me how I need to search for it to have it show up?

Hello sailorwind,
Before your forums actually show up on Google or something like that, Google bots will need to visit your forums. Just give it a wait and then they should come sooner or later. Google bots basically add search pages into Google from your forums. Hope I helped.

Base

Did you click YES for "participate in forum directory?"

Yup
I'm definitely registered to participate in the forums directory.
And yeah, I know Google will take a while, I'm more worried about why I'm not showing up HERE.

You could always promote your forum in the forum on this site,
Re: Why can't I find my forum via the search engine?
I just registered at your site. Although I do not need another site to attend I felt like you may need me at least until you get the site going. I am dealing with the same thing. My forum is about a year and half old now. Members have increased to 52 but some of those refuse to post. I have tried everything I can think up to promote members and posts.
Your forum is for the jobless and although I am not looking for work I do understand the turmoil you are in. Best wishes and good luck in 2009!

What search engine did you use? If you used MSN, then you won't find it there, the forum needs to get popular. Try using Google or Yahoo!.

Re: Why can't I find my forum via the search engine?
I tried to do that earlier today, actually, but it told me I wasn't permitted to start a thread there?Dot Com wrote:You could always promote your forum in the forum on this site,
Glad E Olah, Thanks! I do appreciate having another member. I'm trying to figure out how to best promote my forum, but my first obstacle has been this. And yes, I KNOW it won't show up on the search engines such as Google or MSN or Yahoo until it starts getting hits, once again, that is NOT my question. My question why can't I find it on the FORUMOTION search engine? No matter what I type it does not come up. If I didn't have it bookmarked there's a good chance I MYSELF would never find my forum again.

Sailorwind I feel you. I have the same problem, and like you said its not a matter of Google finding my forum, this is about forumotion's search not finding my forum.
Unless forumotion's search engine is really a Google search engine

Re: Why can't I find my forum via the search engine?
How do you go about putting the HTML Meta Tag that Google asks for into you're forum?
Thanks in advance
