How to Disable Avatars

How do you disable avatars?

At this time, the only way to do it is to go into each members profile via the admin panel and select NO for the 'can display avatar" option.

Yes, they have to be done individually.

Yes, if you have lots of members, it will require work.

Thats the only way.

You can suggest it in the suggestions section with a Yes and No poll.

If it haven't been suggested already.

You can do one thing....
Make a rule for members that they can't use avatars. This may make difference.
One more thing, minimize the maximum size of avatar in admin panel (its 20*20, I think), so no one is going to use such a small avatar.

Yes, but what's your idea?

My idea is to disable on of the tabs, profile links that lead you to the avatar selection pint or even to disable the upload and perhaps the other url links within that section, The avatars will still be there this would stop them uploading their own avatars.

This will only work on certain versions so if i had the link to your forum i could try it out

Ok i have tried several or more than several codes however each code i try changes everything else

I'm sorry but not even CSS can stop them uploading an avatar

Okay, thanks anyway.

Seems to me that in phpBB3, this:

Code:

img[src*="users/xx/xx/xx/avatars"] {display: none ! important;}

will blank out any avatar uploaded to your board. It certainly works here in this topic. Replace the xx/xx/xx with the numbers appropriate for your board. Right-click an avatar on your board to get the URL of the image, and you'll find the numbers.

I suppose you could also go into the admin control panel and set the maximum avatar size to 1x1.

The only problem with this method is your back to actually manually adding codes or manually disabling the upload of the avatars like the first solution,
