Changing domain name Empty Changing domain name

Post by Elwyse February 12th 2009, 4:14 pm

I know I did this once- I just forgot how to do it. Changing the domain name for free- not .com, but a different piece of text before the .forummotion.com. So how do I do this?

I'm sorry if I sound stupid but I can't seem to find that Embarassed

Plus, is there any way if that my members type in my old address once I've changed it, they'll get redirected to the new address? Thanks!

If there is a way for a redirect, I'm unaware of it, as I've changed the forum name and the old name just shows up that no forum exists at that url.

And no apologies.. you'll find the 'general' tab in the Administration Panel. After you click on that, look to the column on the left where you'll see 'forum'. Under that is where you will find 'forum address'. After clicking on 'forum address' there will be a page that has your current forum name/url. Just change the forum name in the box and click save. Smile Oh, and I don't know if you are using the standard or advanced ACP, and I'm not sure it matters, but the instructions are based upon using the advanced admin panel.

Yes, I use the advanced, but there isn't a "Forum Address" under "Forum."

Hmm.. I've always had the following:

Configuration
Categories and forums
Forum Address
Messages and Emails
Security
Forum Deletion

Not sure why it isn't showing up if you're using the advanced acp... sorry. :/

I got one of those .tk domains for now until I purchase a .com domain, but the .tk domain doesn't seem to be working. How do I get my motionsforum domain re-directed to the .tk domain?

Any help?

I have found the solution. You can't change it because you're not the owner. Only the owners see the link Forum Adress and Forum Deletion.

Changing domain name Empty Re: Changing domain name

Post by TANKQ March 4th 2009, 9:57 am

now...i'm in a same problem. i want to change the redirect domain name to the shorter one. then i just want to find the forum address...i can't found it on admin panel. after i read the text on this thread. i want switch my current account name to the admin account (coz i have 2 nick on my forum, one for the admin and the the other for moderator). but then i can't log in with my admin account and password. it's always show up these words "You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password". but before that i rarely used my admin panel to manage the admin panel. i'm always using my moderator account to do that. so the trouble is happening now, i can't log in as admin.
beside that when i manage the admin panel with my moderator account, i've ever reminded twice the member to active, coz lot of members are inactive....one of them was my admin account, this account has reminded too and i received the INACTIVE e-mail from the administrator....is this the main problem or any else?
wrong password....i don't think so, coz i used exactly a same password for my admin and moderator account. do anyone here can help me?
