Question about the portal

I have a couple of questions about the portal on my site.

Is there a way of making it as the first page people see when they access my site? I've tried setting the 'activate portal' option to yes and no, but I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it.

Also, I want to set up an affiliates section, and I've put the image that I want to use there, but I can't seem to make it a link.

I can't get the link function on the WYSIWG control panel to work, so if anyone could tell me the html to get this to work, or another way of doing it, I'd be very grateful.

1) When you give this address http://ace-gang.heavenforum.org , the visitors get right on the portal, it's my case.

2) To make a picture clickable, you put this code after you clicked on the <> button when you create a block

To use the WYSIWG link insertion function, you first write your text or put your picture. Then you highlight it and you click on the link insertion button.
