Virus Question - Page 2 Empty Virus Question

Post by icecheeks March 27th 2009, 7:52 pm

First topic message reminder :

I have had 2 members send me the following messages in regards to my forum:

Twice today when I logged in to this website I got a warning from my Norton Anti virus that this site is "unsafe". It didn't tell me what virus, because when I clicked on it, the icon disappeared, but thought you should know, since you are the moderator.

I go into the site and I don't get anything when I scan it but I get the message each time I go in. THis is quite a mystery for sure. Thanks for looking into it.

I am not sure what is going on but since yesterday my virus scan is saying that there is a Trojan Giframe virus on the forum in the location http://mily/forum/biz/users/16/00/68/smiles/816828.gif

Could someone please let me know what needs to be done? My forum addy is www.apileofscrap.1forum.biz

TIA Smile

The problem is from the main domain which is 1forum.biz.
Its reported as a phishing site, so you have two options , either to try changing it in anyway or contacting Typlo to solve the main domain problems

No it is not.

There is no problem, read my post on the other page, nothing to worry about unless it comes up again.

Virus Question - Page 2 Empty Re: Virus Question

Post by icecheeks April 1st 2009, 11:05 pm

I am not understanding how changing the name can help - forumotion is the one that gave me .1forum.biz , I didn't come up with it on my own......
And how do we know it isn't the smilies? Perhaps when one was added, it wasn't scanned properly?
I am simply asking for a mod's help because they should know what is going on. I truly do appreciate what you are telling me everyone but it would be nice to get a concrete answer from someone official.

Virus Question - Page 2 Empty Another virus alert

Post by joxer April 23rd 2009, 5:23 pm

On our forum some JS virus is present that tries to execute itself on every action (read, post, edit, etc). What to do?

Here's the screenshot:
Virus Question - Page 2 Clipboard01fza

AntiVir from avira.com detects it, however sweep from Sophos doesn't report anything. I haven't tried with another antivirus software.

Virus Question - Page 2 Empty Re: Virus Question

This is nothing to worry about. it's members that are using Norton. i have avast and nothing is coming up. i also checked on my other computer that has avg and there is still nothing coming up on my end. just tell your members if this pop's up to put it in quarantine or deny access. this will happen at times also be sure to check your firewall settings and make sure you are allowing access to the site. i have a feeling it's just not recognizing the site and is doing this as a precaution.

If this is your forum - http://dajpive.forumf.biz/forum.htm , then its a false positive. By false positive I mean it found PART of a virus, this wont be to do harm, but used in forumotions javascript files, nothing to worry about.

Although make sure HTML s DISABLED, otherwise people can mess up your forum in all sorts of ways including viruses.
