Solved New topic alerts

I have a button that shows members there is a new topic, but how do i get it to stay in the new topic button untill they read it. On my site all you got to is visit site then it shows a new post then you go to new page and it disapeares how can i stop that.

Its not possible, once you visit & have 5 new posts. You read 2 & then log off, close the browser. Once again you come back you can't see the other 3 new posts.
