Solved removing a url

Post by gunge31 April 27th 2009, 5:15 pm

hi

Not sure if im posting in the right place Smile i currently have 3 forumotion forums, but have decided to just have the 1 forum (still with forumotion) and register the urls from the other 2 to just be redirects to the first forum.

Can i remove the bought urls?

any advice would be great Smile

Thanks

I think you will have to change the URL's, or link them so how?

Remove the bought URL's, do you mean delete them? scratch

no not delete the bought url's transfer them to a third party that could do a redirect for me (or if forumotion could do it) then delete the forum that it used to go to

Hmmm... not sure if you can do this yet. If you get a no that it is not possible to do that yet, then I suggest you just put the forums under construction and in the construction message put in big letters your new forum address.

i unsure what gunge31 is asking?
i think he is saying that he has a few other places he wants to close but have his link leading to his new place?
if that's the case close registrations. and set all forums permissions set for admins only.this way if a member log's in there not seeing any of the forums you have there.

now in your homepage Generalities have your link leading to the place you have open.

if this is not what you mean my apologies. please explain a Lil better.I'm a Lil confused on why your asking to delete the other url links?if your deleting them links then you either changing them or your deleting the old forums and would have no way or no ware for the redirect link.

but as far as changing the url forum your forums that are now closed and having it lead to the one that is open. then no you can not do that.all it would do is change your link and go to the forum that it was before you changed the link.

If you mean you want to use your domain name brought from forumotion to be used somewhere else, yes you can. You will need to do that at your third party end, you will get some code from typlo as well.

That has to be done at your external side. Also PM typlo, he will help you regarding the transfer of your domain.
