Quote box not working Empty Quote box not working

When the members of our forum try to use the quote function, the quote doesn't show up in the box, it's just adding on to their post.
It looks to me like the beginning quote mark (for example, [" ) is not showing up...but the end quote mark does. It's happened to several different people on our forum.
Any ideas?
