This is a feature that is growing in popularity with each day.
Many social networking sites , including wordpress use a clever little system ... the sign in with twitter and facebook option for comments.
Visitors don't have to register to your site just to post one comment or leave a short message. A large majority of web users already have twitter or facebook, so why not let them sign in via those accounts and leave a message in the blog format forums we got on forumotion.

I think this idea is far better than the global accounts that was suggested a long while ago.
Visitors will be able to use twitter account to comment the blog, but to see the rest of your forum and reply there they'd need to register.
