What are Affiliates?

What are they and what purpose do they provide? Do they act like "favorites" or "adverting"links to the sites?

Affiliates are like sister forums, or supporting forums. it's like you scratch my back I scratch your back kind of thing.

Yes they can be advertising links and favourites, but also if you have certain connections with others, it would be beneficial to promote your site and share users.

That's be just advertising, I think. If you really want to affiliate with other sites, you have to ask them to put your website link on their page, too.

Yes it does help, but where do I find the image to put the "url of image"?
If I put some image, it went jumbo super-sized.

URL of the image, upload the image from your computer to tinypic.com.
Or whichever person's forum you are advertising will provide their own image link.
