White pixels around smilies and buttons Empty White pixels around smilies and buttons

Any way to get rid of this without re-doing them all? We added a bunch of smilies to the forum while the background was white, but then got requests to make the colors darker overall and now the extra pixels from when the smilies were trimmed down are showing on the outsides of them and making them look amaturish. This is also happening with all of the buttons on the forum. Is there a way to fix this?

www.bassinvaders.org to see what I mean...

Thanks in advance!

you need a transparent background rather than a "white" background
