Forum-new icon not working

Currently, only my forum icon is displaying. How do i make such that when there is a new post or new topics in a forum, the forum icon will indicate it Which icon should i change or does the above features?

ok go to admin panel--->display--->pictures and colors--->pics management--->advanced--->icons for the forum OR icons for topics. change the pictures that say new. for example Subject - New.

Whether its forum icon or topic icon tab, i have used different pic to represent.
And i have also tested it by making a new post. But although the legends or keys below the main forum is updated, its not changing at the forum at all.
