Well you can activate a shoutbox without writing it:
Administration->General Admin->Chatbox (Advanced parameters)
There you can also find localisation options.
I don't have a clue about clocks however as I don't feel I need one.

<param name="movie" value="http://www.shoutmix.com/viewer.swf" />
<param name="flashvars" value="id=studentalk&amp;popup=1&amp;invite=Join%20chat%21" />
</object>
<br /><a href="http://www.shoutmix.com" title="Get your own free shoutbox at ShoutMix!">Free shoutbox @ ShoutMix</a><br />
<!-- End ShoutMix -->

Hello.

For the clock and the shootbox, I advise you to put them in one of these 3 locations :

- A portal block (advised for the clock) : Admin Panel > Module > Portal > Portal structure > Create a custom block > click on Help to put html codes in my site Switch_wysiwyg and after, paste the code and validate. Then, in the portal structure, go to the "Add of personal blocks" drop-down menu and add your new block in the structure.

- the homepage message (can be used for the shootbox) : Admin Panel > General Admin > Homepage > Click on the Help to put html codes in my site Switch_wysiwyg icon then paste the code and validate.

- In a forum description (advised for the shootbox since you can set the permission so only members can access it) : Admin Panel > Forum > Management > You create a forum or you edit an existing forum > you click on the Help to put html codes in my site Switch_wysiwyg icon > paste the code then validate.

There are a lot of places to get them from depending on what features you want. I'd recommend just googling "shout box" and exploring what comes up.
