Guest viewing restricted areas
Weird one today, according to the Admin Panel > Home > who is online....we had a guest (invite) viewing the sub-forum "Modos" except Modos has only got Admin and Moderator viewing/reading/etc/ rights with no other group having access here
Is this a glitch or error or do I have a more serious security issue - the IP address also comes from Japan - weird for a French motorbike forum.
Any advice please

the only thing i can think of is you have it to where they can see the forum but do not have access to do anything? this means they might have tried to go to the forum but where not able to get in to see or do anything?
other then that i would double check all the permissions to be sure.
also log out and look at things as a guest. if you are unable to get in as a guest then so is every other guest.

Thanks Kirk - yep all permissions have been double and triple checked and I can't even get near the secured areas unless I'm logged in.
I even tried a copy and paste of the url link to the sub-forum Modos and was imediately asked to login - I just don't see how or why the Admin panel would show a guest as "viewing" a sub-forum they can't even get near ??

Could of been a bot that Forumotion has and has admin rights to check the forum out to see glitchs in the forum. I would not worry about it.

They are most likely bots, just searching through your forum. Is this a glitch or error or do I have a more serious security issue - the IP address also comes from Japan - weird for a French motorbike forum.
FM has bots that go through your ACP to check for errors. Its not really spying, but also, they are shown in the "whos online" section as an admin user.Does that also mean that forumotion have spy bots?
