Problem with Navigation Bar Links
Hello, i've got a problem with my navigation bar links. At the office on a regular desktop the links are all visible; at home on the laptop Logout dissapears... checking it out on my PDA, i see that Logout is wrapped to a 2nd line which is barely visible...
Do you have any suggestions to solve this? I thought of using buttons instead of links, but it would be difficult to find them in greek (it's a greek forum). Also i thouth to widen the navigation strip, but i don't know where to go to do this. You guys have any ideas about this? My forum is newageastrology/forumotion.com if you want to check out how it appears...
Thanks in advance...

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
how is clearing my cache going to help? when i visited the site from my PDA it was the first time i visited it ever from there. Didn't have the chance to cache anything. I'd rather expext a thing having to do with the width of the screen or something.
Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
I gave that solution for your laptop.

Granted. ..
How about the PDA? Logout is wrapped to the next line there as well...

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
is there any place (in the CSS maybe? i don't know) where the length of the navigation strip is defined? Or the width? Which is not flexible for all types of screen maybe?

May I remind you that double/triple posting isn't tolerated unless separated by 24 hours (Use the edit button)
For PDA, i think maybe the width is not compatible.
Ask your members as well to clear their cache.

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
sorry, but this is impractical; i can't ask all of my members to delete their cache every time they have this problem... could you please look into it a bit deeper than just offering me a first aid response? thank you...

Just like a car, it cannot work perfectly without maintenance !

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
Thanks for that but laptop has windows vista and certainly not IE6. And even so; if this were indeed a problem of cahce F5 on the Explorer would solve it... but this is not the case...

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
Windows vista is a operating system & IE6 is a browser.
Clearing a cache is related to browsers. The tutorial link i gave, has ways to do it in firefox & IE.
The IE link which i gave now, was to just provide you with information as to why clearing cache is important.

Look, i don't want to sound rude to you. But that statement has got nothing to do for the problem you are facing. IE8 works with XP as well !

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
Ok, i found this in the Tricks and Tips section, but this didn't seem to work for me... Is there anything further i could do?
"Line in the nav bar
One other thing I would like to add, in you forum header make a personal button, make the name
Code:
</a><hr>
The picture should be https://2img.net/i/fa/empty.gif
Now place it so that its between certain nav buttons, you have just devided your navbar."
PS: Yes, i cleaned up the cache just in case and the problem remains...

Re: Problem with Navigation Bar Links
I thought you should know i managed to solve this through CSS... I have an Invision theme, namely IPVista by Jalokim.. Thought you should know, cause CSS is not the same for every theme as far i have understood so far...
My fixes were in the spots i mention below.. for any other member who wants to tap with this thought you should know...
Height was 25; i did it 50 for broading the navigation bar...
Note that this submenu section is the one under **** Header ****. There is another one under ******* COLOURS ******* which we'll do next...
/* Submenu */
#submenu {
height: 50px;padding-top: 2px;
text-align: right;
Next is the Submenu in COLOURS section...
/* ****************************************************************************INVISION BASIC COLOURS**************************************************************************** */
div#logostrip {
background-color: transparent;
color: #F5F5F5;
}
/* Submenu */
#submenu {
height: 50px;
font-size: 12px;
font-family: verdana;
background-image: url('https://i.servimg.com/u/f84/14/44/49/54/nav1011.jpg');
Here i made two changes; first the height again and second the image. The image was 25px broad; so it was not covering the second line; i just downloaded it to Paintbrush, copy pasted it below to make it double size and uploaded to servimg... then used that image instead...
hope this is helpful; you can do other things as well via CSS, for example increase font size a bit (for this theme, font size was a bit too small, quite good for the portal, but the posts seemed very narrow...)
