Homepage Vs. Site Title Need Help

Hey there,
I'm having trouble with my forum title. I am a bit confuse with the homepage title and the site title. I want my site title to be my home page title, but its too long. Is there a way to extend the site title?
It doesn't make sense. I change the site title through --> forum promotion --> meta tag (this is what is display in search engine)
I want it to be my site title that gets display in search engine. Is there a way to do that.
