Scrolling Marquee

I have a question hopefully someone can answer for me. My forum members seemed to notice that the forum seemed much slower when we enabled the scrolling marquee. They have mentioned they have issues posting and the pages loading slower. We have disabled the scroller for now. Can you tell me if using the scroller would slow down the forum signtificantly? We in management love it but it is takes too much memory to use...guess we won't. They also mentioned that some of the animations they could not see; but when they hovered the mouse above the scroller then they did.

It depends really on what they contain, if they have just images i don't think it affects much.
