I voted yes. The chat box is not popular at my place and I sure try to get members to use it. I think if there were sounds it would draw attention to the chat box.

Yes as long as they fix the latency problems with the chatbox..
On my site the chatbox would sometimes send messages in different order..
I mean this: just typed a message.. wondered it didnt show.. then typed in other stuff and 5 minutes later the stuff i wrote and wondered where it disappeared appears out of nowhere.

This is what i think the option to have it on or off like a mute button. As sometime im on a diffrent site and forget about the chatbox like right now i just missed 5 posts -_-
