Solved How to disable log-in for a short period?

Post by Prizm January 9th 2010, 4:17 pm

Hi,

I'd like to stop people from logging in to my forum for a day or two - HOWEVER I'd still like people to be able to post in a guest forum as a Guest.

Can this be done?

I know I can change viewing rights for my forums to Admin only, which would mean the members won't be able to see all my forums except the Guest forum (which I have set up for guests to post in).

Once I do that, how can I stop current members from logging in?

Admin Panel >> User & Groups >> User Options >> Look for allow new users >> No >> Save

You will have to remove it when you want more members to join.

Ok, that just stop visitors from registering. It doesn't stop existing members from logging in.

How can I remove the Log-In option?

thanks

That's impossible from everything I've explored. No way to just disable log-in and nothing else.

you can activate the feature where the forum is in maintenance, by going to admin panel>general>configuration>forum in construction>yes>save.

Which stops everyone except for administrators. But doesn't allow guests, soooo...

HOWEVER I'd still like people to be able to post in a guest forum as a Guest.

This is currently impossible. You've got holidays, which stops guests from registering. Construction, which cuts off access to your forum and makes it exclusively available to administrators. And lastly, forum permissions, which restricts or allows various parties from accessing specific forums.

So, with the current features, your exact specifications cannot be fulfilled with the admin panel.
