Guest Links

On my forum I have an open topic for guests where links can be posted by them or so I thought.
Every time a guest posts a link the area is left blank. The link will not show unless they become a registered member the they can post links all they want just fine.
I tried testing this out myself as being a guest and sure enough none of the links the guests are posting are showing up.
I've tried all variations of posting a link using the url= and without but every time I hit submit my message is just blank. I've tried to change the color of the link, still doesn't work.
Is there a way I can get guests to post links? I've check and recheck all permissions for that thread and it allows everything.
