Invalid email address
Hi,
my forum is rejecting an email address as invalid.
It is info@*************.co.uk
Does forumotion accept info as an email?
He has registered using a hotmail and has asked me to change it.
I have tried in IE, opera and FF so it is not a browser problem.
Please help,
Thank you
Graeme

Re: Invalid email address
whose email is it? if it's a non members/guest email and they are trying to register then the email will have to be valid.
once they register. if you allow members to change there email? then they can change it to anything.. but i don't know any smart admin that allows there members to change emails or user names.. they need to ask the admin to do that.. now if it's your email.. then use a valid one to create the forum then once you in and have the forum change it to what ever you want.
but be sure to remember the email the forum was created with.. if you ever have to restore or need a new pass etc.. you will always need the original info the forum was created with.
As far as you being the admin and changing members email.. then yes you can.
but be sure to check all there options.if it's set to always notify them of messages.. then no that wont work.. it cant reply to something thats invalid so be sure to check that as well.
and no contact emails either.. not if there invalid.. other then that you can change everything in there profile via admin panel

Re: Invalid email address
Thank you for your reply.
I didn't explain myself very well.
A new member tried to register with his normal email address.
info@*************.co.uk
The forum would not allow him to register with this email.
It says it is invalid.
He ended up registering with his hotmail address.
He has now asked me if I can change his email to the one he wants to use as only admin can change emails.
I cannot change his email as the forum tells me it is invalid.
It isn't. I emailed him on it today.
Why is the address coming back as invalid?

Re: Invalid email address
Forumotion doesn't support all email addresses and is refusing it as it doesn't know its an address.

Re: Invalid email address
I'm a bit confused by your response.
Are you saying that forumotion will randomly refuse certain email addresses?
I have other .co.uk addresses registered so it's not the extension that's the problem.
How do I know which emails are going to be refused as invalid?
Thank you,
Graeme
